To Go, To Be Still, and Pray!

Luke 12:16-21(NLT)
16
Then he told them a story: “A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops. 17 He said to himself, ‘What should I do? I don’t have room for all my crops.’ 18 Then he said, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll have room enough to store all my wheat and other goods. 19 And I’ll sit back and say to myself, “My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!”’  20  “But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’  21 “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”

Ecclesiastes 4:5-6 (NLT)
5
“Fools fold their idle hands, leading them to ruin.”  6 And yet, Better to have one handful with quietness than two handfuls with hard work and chasing the wind.”

Psalm 27:11 (NLT)
11 Teach me how to live, O Lord.  Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me.

Luke 8:9 (NLT)
9
His disciples asked him what this parable meant.
Luke 8:15

11 “This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is God’s word. 12The seeds that fell on the footpath represent those who hear the message, only to have the devil come and take it away from their hearts and prevent them from believing and being saved. 13The seeds on the rocky soil represent those who hear the message and receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they believe for a while, then they fall away when they face temptation. 14The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life. And so they never grow into maturity. 15And the seeds that fell on the good soil represent honest, good-hearted people who hear God’s word, cling to it, and patiently produce a huge harvest.

TO BE STILL

 Psalm 27:7 (NLT)
7 Hear me as I pray, O Lord. Be merciful and answer me!  8 My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.”  And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”

Psalm 46:10 (ESV)
10 "Be still, and know that I am God”. I will be exalted among the nations.

Psalm 46:10 (The Holy Scriptures Hebrew text)

10
Desist and Realize that I am God.

Psalm 37:7(ESV)
7
Be still before the LORD
and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!  8 Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath!  Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. 9 For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land.

Psalm 27:14 (NLT)
14 Wait patiently for the Lord.  Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.

 TO PRAY

Philippians 4:6-7
6
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT)
16
Always be joyful. 17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 6:18-20
18
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. 19 And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike. 20 I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God’s ambassador. So pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should.

The Power of Prayer

 James 5:13-18 (NLT)
13 Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. 14 Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.  16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. 17 Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! 18 Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.

 Proverbs 28:9 (NLT)
9
God detests the prayers of a person who ignores the law.

Bowing before the Lord knee bound Prayer

Philippians 4:8-9
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
