MEN’S GROUP
Hebrews 10:24-25
(NLT)
24
Let us think of ways to motivate one another
to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our
meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another,
especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
“FAITH TO GO”
Tuesday October 5, 2010
Hosted by Rusty
Russum, Facilitated by Hilton Glass
Personal Testimony by Doug Sholes
James 1:5-8
(NLT)
5
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to
you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you
ask him,
be
sure that your faith is in God alone.
Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a
wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7
Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
8
Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they
are unstable in everything they do.
FAITH TO GO TO ALL
James 2:1-6
(NLT)
1 My dear brothers and sisters how can you claim to have
faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people
over others?
2 For
example, suppose someone comes into your meeting dressed
in fancy clothes and expensive jewelry, and another comes in who is
poor and dressed in dirty clothes. 3 If you give special
attention and a good seat to the rich person, but you say to the
poor one, “You can stand over there, or else sit on the floor”—well,
4 doesn’t this discrimination show that your judgments
are guided by evil motives?
5
Listen to me, dear brothers and sisters. Hasn’t God chosen the poor
in this world to be rich in faith? Aren’t they the ones who will
inherit the Kingdom he promised to those who love him? 6
But you dishonor the poor! Isn’t it the rich who oppress you and
drag you into court? 7 Aren’t they the ones who slander
Jesus Christ, whose noble name you bear?
KNOW FAITH & KNOW IT TO GO
Romans 10:9-18
(NLT)
(Practice presenting the plan of salvation)
8
And that message is the very message about faith that we preach:
9
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in
your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made
right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are
saved. 11 As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts
in him will never be disgraced.” 12 Jew and Gentile
are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who
gives generously to all who call on him. 13 For “Everyone
who calls on the name of the Lord
will be saved.”
14 But
how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him?
And how can they believe in him if they
have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless
someone tells them?
15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent?
That is why the Scriptures say,
“How beautiful are the feet of
messengers who bring good news!
16 But not
everyone welcomes the Good News, for Isaiah the prophet said, “Lord,
who has believed our message?”
17
So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about
Christ.
Hebrews 11:6
(NLT)
6 And it
is impossible to please God without faith.
Anyone who wants to come to him must
believe that God exists and that
he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
FAITH WITH CONFIDENCE TO GO
Hebrews 10:32-33
(NLT)
32
Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ.
Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant
terrible suffering. 33 Sometimes you were exposed to
public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who
were suffering the same things.
34
You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail, and when
all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew
there were better things waiting for you that will last forever.
Hebrews
10:35-39
(NLT)
35 So do not throw away this
confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it
brings you! 36 Patient
endurance is what you need now, so that
you will continue to do God’s will.
Then you will receive all that he has promised. 37
“For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay.
38 And my righteous ones
will live by faith. But I
will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.” 39
But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own
destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved.
Luke
16:10
(NLT)
10 “If you are faithful in little things, you will be
faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things,
you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.
Luke
16:13
(NLT)
13
“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the
other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve both God and money.”
A
FINAL WORD
Ephesians 6:10-18
(NLT)
10
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
11
Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm
against all strategies of the devil.
12
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against
evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty
powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly
places. 13
Therefore, put on every piece of
God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of
evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing
firm.
14
Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor
of God’s righteousness.
15
For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that
you will be fully prepared.
16
In addition to all of these, hold up
the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.
17
Put on salvation as your helmet, and take
the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18
Pray in the Spirit
at all times and on every
occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all
believers everywhere.

Assuredly, Thus said the Lord God: "Behold, I will found
in Zion, stone by
stone, a tower of precious cornerstones
exceedingly firm;
He who trusts need not fear. |
Therefore, This is what the sovereign God says:
Look, I am placing a foundation stone in Jerusalem.
It is firm, a tested and precious cornerstone that is safe to build
on.
Whoever believes need never run away again. |
"Then Jesus asked them, Didn't you ever read this in the
Scriptures?" "The

21 I praise You, for you have answered me, and have

22 The
stone that the builders rejected has become the chief

marvelous in our sight. This is the Day the Lord
has made---let us exult and rejoice on it. |
21 I
thank you for answering my prayer and saving me!
22 The stone rejected by the builders has now become the

Isaiah 8:12-15
(NLT) |
Romans 9:31
(NLT) |

12
"You must not call conspiracy All that that people calls
conspiracy Nor revere what it reveres, Nor hold it in
awe. 13 None but the Lord of Host shall you
account holy; Give reverence to Him alone, hold Him
alone in awe. 14
He
shall be for a sanctuary, a stone men strike against, a
rock men stumble over.
For the two Houses of
Israel, and a trap and a snare for those who dwell in
Jerusalem. 15
The masses shall trip over
these and shall fall and
be injured, shall be snared and be caught |
12
Do not be afraid that some plan conceived behind closed
doors will be the end of you. 13 Do not fear
anything except the Lord Almighty. He alone is the Holy
One. If you fear him, you need fear nothing else 14 He will keep you
safe. But to Israel and Judah he will be
a stone that causes people
to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.
And for the people of
Jerusalem he will be a trap that entangles them. 15
many
of them will stumble and fall,
never to rise again. Many will
be captured. |
But the Jews, who tried so hard to get right with God by
keeping the law, never succeeded. Why not? Because they
were trying to get right by keeping the law and being
good instead of by depending on Faith.
They stumbled over the
great rock in their path. God warned them of this in the
scriptures when he said,
"I am placing a stone in Jerusalem that causes people to
stumble, and a rock that makes them fall,
But anyone who believes in Him will not be disappointed. |

1st Peter 2:5

5
And now God is building you, as living stones, into his
spiritual temple.
What's more you are God's Holy priests, who offer the
spiritual sacrifices that please him because of Jesus
Christ. As the Scriptures express it,
"I am placing a
cornerstone in Jerusalem, a chosen cornerstone, and
anyone who believes in him will never be disappointed.
"Yes, he is very precious to you who believe. But for
you who reject him,
"The stone that was rejected by the builders has now
become the cornerstone." And the Scriptures also
say,
"He
is the stone that makes people stumble, the rock that
will make them fall."
They stumble because they do not listen to God's word or
obey it, and so they meet the fate that has been planned
for them. |
|
|
|
Acts 4:11
(NLT) |
|
|
|
For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures,
where it says, "The
stone that you builders rejected has become the
cornerstone.
There is salvation in no one else! There is no other
name in all heaven for people to call on to save them." |
|

Ephesians 2:20

|
2:20
We are his house, built on the foundation of the
apostles and the prophets.
And the cornerstone is
Christ Jesus himself. |

|
1st Peter 2:4
(NLT) |
|
|
|
4
Come to Christ who is the
living cornerstone of God's temple.
He was rejected by the
people, but he is precious to God who chose him. |
